IIM Visakhapatnam Grand Unveiling PM Modi Sets the Stage for Next Gen Management Gurus

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, presided over the virtual launch of the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam's (IIM-V) new permanent campus. Accompanied by State Higher Education dignitaries who joined digitally from the Secretariat, the event was broadcast live for attendees gathered on the institute's grounds at Gambheeram in Anandapuram mandal, situated 20 kilometers from Visakhapatnam.

During his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significance of IIM-V's latest development as a pivotal event in its progression. He emphasized the institute's role in nurturing future management experts who will serve throughout India. The foundational cornerstone of this educational edifice was placed by former Union Minister for Human Resources Development, Smriti Zubin Irani, on January 17, 2015.

Spread across 241.50 acres provided by the state at no cost, IIM-V boasts a lush landscape with over 8,500 trees. Its construction encompasses a built-up area of 62,350 square meters erected with an investment of ₹472.61 crore. The campus is equipped with a robust 1500 kWp solar power array linked to the power grid; it includes a substantial water treatment facility capable of processing 216 kilolitres daily alongside a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 150 KLD. Sports and recreation facilities feature prominently with a FIFA-standard football pitch, an extensive cricket field, and provisions for both indoor and outdoor games, in addition to a fitness center and spaces dedicated to yoga and meditation.

At present, IIM-V serves a diverse cohort of 2,500 students with its array of both in-person and online educational programs. These initiatives are designed to cater to a wide spectrum from ambitious managers-in-the-making to seasoned professionals seeking further development.
